Passing Through Bay St. Louis
Drove through Bay St. Louis after I left one community and headed to another for business tomorrow. Bay St. Louis is great. Most of the Gulf Coast is on a slow journey to recovery. Waffle Houses were oddly the first to return.
A nice hang out is the Mockingbird Cafe; a coffee-shop with a lunch and dinner menu. They also have live music on certain nights. I have seen a few bands from New Orleans listed.
On a previous visit I had a great portabella mushroom burger. They no longer have them and are now serving veg burgers. They were good and I liked the spices but they did not shine like the mushroom burger. The coffee remains good and the atmosphere is a very nice departure from all the strip-malls that have rebuilt in the neighboring communities. I have not stopped at the other shops nearby but they also look interesting.
