My love and I went to see the Mardi Gras Indians. It is Super Sunday and in New Orleans that means lots of beads, feathers, and music. I usually hang at Bayou St. John but we found the rumors were true, no parading on Orleans today. So we headed uptown and found a sweet spot on the neutral ground.
I have never done Super Sunday uptown. Someone was sweet enough to clue us in that there was a better place to go. We drove to third, parked, and started walking. We had second thoughts when we didn’t see a feather in sight and decided to head out. On our way out we saw a few Indians on the opposite side of the neutral ground. I wanted pictures bad but we were in the middle of the road. My honey said go ahead, there’s no traffic and put it in park. I jumped out and started to take some great pictures.
She got into the car and drove it around and waited. So sweet! She picked me up after a good bit of time and as we drove we saw another big group of Indians. We parked it and both started taking pictures. It was AMAZING, no one around but a handful of us and a whole lot of beautiful Mardi Gras Indians.
