“Hello World”

I have graduated from a circuit board to the Arduino, a prototyping platform.  Yeah!

Short trip to DC

I spent two days in DC this week.  I did not get out much which was kind of sad.  Almost everything I ate was non-McDougall.  All and all, down right uneventful if it were not for the train ride to the airport.  I had an unusual 20 minutes with a collogue that I have never spoken to one-on-one for such an extended time.  We are usually in a room figuring out next steps for the coming year with little chit chat.  I walked away knowing a lot about her thinking, her drivers, and for myself a kinship as we have some similar traits both personally and politically.

One of the downsides to teleworking is minimal interaction with people that can be inspiring (or frustrating).  I am trying to create opportunities to collide with other people.  I hope I can have similar interactions the next time I am there and a little more time in the city to have fun.

Celebration of my Birth!

I was born at 10:59AM MST.  Today I celebrate that moment.  It started with a present from my love, moleskins for my todo lists.  This is a wonderful gift as I am trying to manage the many crazy things I have going on that have often escaped me in the past.  The present was followed by a wonderful breakfast of tofu scramble, hash browns and coffee in bed!

Later in the day we went to eat at Theo’s Pizza.  The best in town!  They make a great no cheese pizza.  We grabbed a latte from Fairgrinds and headed back home to play some games and  a little cleaning up.   I got smoked playing sets cubed.  It was around 4:30 before we kicked it into gear and began to prep for the small springroll soiree.  People started to arrive around 5:00 and everyone helped out in the kitchen.  My love made us some yummy cocktails and much fun was had.  Everyone was so lovely and thoughtful…  I am feeling blessed to be in the world.

Two days in Jackson, MS

While in Jackson I was on the hunt for both free wifi and good vegan options. I rolled in around 9:30 last night but decided last minute to skip the coffee shop and go straight to the hotel.

Today I committed to eating a descent meal before heading home. The weather forecast is bad and I don’t want to be hungry on top of nervous. I found a vegan cafe that was located at a local food coop. Driving into their parking lot, I also spied the coffee shop I was thinking about hitting last night. The vegan food was a bit disappointing as the cafe was closed. I bought a fakin’ bakin’ burrito from the deli case and it was pretty good but on the salty side.

Next door to the grocery was a computercoop touting itself “he world’s first computer cooperative” in existence since 1998. I wonder… The people seemed nice. There were three free computers that were accessible until 7PM. This will change as they reported a few thefts and will now close when the coop closes at 6PM. They said most of their business was tied to computer sales. Membership provides a discount on equipment and software.

After the computercoop I head over to the coffee shop for some yummy coffee for the road. The place is called Cups. The soy latte was pretty good and the atmosphere was nice and slightly funky.

With cup in hand I head out on the road for a three hour drive in the rain. I like the rain…..
